Privacy Policy

01 Summary

• The App is designed to work locally on your device. Your recordings never leave your iPhone unless you explicitly share them. Your scripts stay on your iPhone unless you sign in (to sync them across your devices) or tap the optional AI assistant.
• We use a small number of third-party services to keep the App running and improving — listed below.
• We never sell your personal data.

02 What stays on your device

• Scripts you write are stored in your iPhone's local database (and, only if you sign in, in your private cloud space — see “What we collect”).
• Video recordings are stored in the App's sandbox (and, if you turn on "Auto-save originals to Photos", in your Photos library).
• Preferences (font size, scroll speed, alignment, and so on) are stored in your iPhone's user defaults.

03 What we collect

Analytics — PostHog. We use PostHog to understand which features people use and where the App falls short. Events sent include actions like "recording started", "paywall viewed", or "export completed". We do not send the content of your scripts or videos. PostHog assigns a random device identifier that is not linked to your name or email. See posthog.com/privacy.

Subscriptions — RevenueCat. When you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, RevenueCat handles receipt validation and subscription state. They receive a transaction identifier from Apple. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

Optional account — Firebase Authentication. If you sign in (optional), we use Firebase Authentication to verify your account. We receive your email address and a Firebase user ID. Sign-in is only required if you want cross-device sync; the App is fully usable signed-out. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Script sync — Cloud Firestore. If you sign in, the title and text of your scripts and their per-script preferences are stored in your private cloud space (Google Firebase, Cloud Firestore) so they follow you across devices. Access rules let only your signed-in account read or write them. Without an account, nothing is synced.

Optional AI script assistant — Firebase Cloud Functions and an AI model provider. Only after you give permission in the app, and only when you tap Create, Shorten, More natural or Add hook, the text you wrote (or the idea you typed), the script title, your target length and platform, and your language setting are sent to our server (Google Cloud Functions), which forwards them to a third-party AI model provider (OpenRouter, which routes the request to the underlying model) to generate the result. The call is protected by Firebase App Check (Apple App Attest) so only genuine installs can use it. We do not store the text on our server and we do not log it; the provider processes it under its own privacy policy (openrouter.ai/privacy). Your recordings and audio are never sent, and nothing is sent unless you tap the button.

Crash reports. If the App crashes, Apple may send us anonymized crash logs through TestFlight or App Store Connect. You can opt out in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

04 Permissions the App asks for

• Camera. Record video while reading your script.
• Microphone. Record audio for your video, and (optionally) follow your speech to auto-scroll.
• Speech Recognition. Run on-device speech recognition for voice-follow scrolling. Your speech is not sent off-device.
• Photos (add only). Save a copy of your finished recording to your photo library, only when you ask us to.

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings → SayScene.

05 What we never collect

• The text of your scripts — except when you sign in to sync them or choose to use the AI assistant (see “What we collect”).
• The audio or video content of your recordings.
• Your contacts, calendar, location, or browsing history.

06 Auto-renewing subscriptions

Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your iTunes account. We do not see your full payment details — only the transaction identifier needed to grant access. See our Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.

07 Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

08 Your rights

• Delete the App to remove all locally stored data from your device.
• Sign out at any time to unlink the App from your Firebase account.
• Email us to request that we delete any account-linked data we hold, including your synced scripts.

09 Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and surface a notice in the App.
